Golden Hour

{Michael Kors & Kate Spade Watches}

Rarely do I leave the house without some kind of golden accessory. My everyday accessories consist of pearl earrings, a vintage gold ring from my mom’s costume jewelry collection, and this Michael Kors watch. The watch seems to be a VERY popular item, so I’ve kept an eye out for a possible replacement. This Kate Spade watch is absolutely adorable with it’s bubbly look, while these Nixon and Vince Camuto options are downright bad ass.

It’s A Wrap

{Autumn Cashmere Neck Warmer and Ruche “Snood”}

‘Tis the season to bundle up in your favorite scarves and brave the cold with a hot cup of cocoa. Like I mentioned earlier, a scarf can make the look, and while I have an unusually large collection of scarves, I could pare it down to just two necessities if needed: a thick knitted infinity scarf and a pashmina.

I can’t get enough of this leopard print cashmere neck warmer that’s both luxurious and fun (you can’t go wrong with cashmere). For a more affordable option, this “snood” is great as a thick knitted infinity scarf that can be pulled over the head as a hood should the weather turn for the worse.

While nothing beats a true cashmere pashmina (like this one), Target also offers this great 100% viscose option (and for the price of one cashmere pashmina, you could buy one of every color).

En Pointe

{Gift from a friend – ballerina charm that glitters and twirls in the lamplight.}

Since I was a little girl, I’ve had an affinity for ballerinas. I never showed any real interest in joining ballet (I took one tumbling class and opted for a contact sport instead), but that never stopped me from idolizing their slender silhouettes and graceful movement. While I wouldn’t add an all-out tutu to my everyday wardrobe (OK, I might), these ballerina-inspired tulle skirts (here and here) lend toward that casual elegance and sophistication of the ballet that I love.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials

{Classic pearl earrings}

There are a few essential items that every girl should own. Well-chosen, classic staple items should form the foundation of your wardrobe, and then it can be built upon with individual items more tailored to your unique style. I’m always on the hunt for a good deal and often go for quantity over quality, but these are the items that are worth the investment:

  • Pearl Stud Earrings: A classic pair of pearl stud earrings is one of those things where you just can’t go wrong. These are a part of my daily wardrobe, worn to work, the post office, and romantic candlelit dinners alike.
  • Peacoat: Whether you’re dressed for a evening at the theater or rushing out of your house in a t-shirt and yoga pants to move your car before street sweeping, tossing on a tailored peacoat instantly creates a classy look. This coat is now at the top of my Christmas list this year (I love the sandstone color). It’s just…perfect.
  • Leather Boots: It’s cold and it’s wet outside. A pair of tall leather boots with a comfortable heel will keep your feet warm, your hem dry, and your style on point. These are a great option as they can easily be dressed up or down, worn with jeans or a skirt.
  • Infinity Scarf: Though technically an accessory, any girl can tell you a scarf makes the look, so I’m including it as an essential. I love this leopard print infinity scarf, because it adds just a dash of fun to any outfit.

Lady in Leather

{The original inspiration piece: alice + olivia dress}

Very few people have that ideal body type that can be dressed in any style and pull it off without a hitch. We normal folk have to accept our bodies, embrace them, and dress accordingly. I have short legs. To create the illusion of longer legs, my wardrobe is composed primarily of high-waisted skirts, straight and wide leg pants, high heels, and maxi dresses.

This maxi dress by one of my favorite designers caught my eye a few weeks ago and different takes on the style have been popping up left and right. I love how the soft, flowing skirt is contrasted by the fitted leather bodice, giving the look a bit of edge. This strapless Forever 21 version doesn’t quite hit the nail on the head, but at just under $30, it’s difficult to pass up.
